Eek! Welcome back to Monday!
It's time for a new challenge at House-Mouse & Friends Monday Challenge Blog! This week our sweet and super talented Teamie, Lorraine Aquilina, wants you to get *Fruity*! LOL!!! What this actually means is; creating a card showcasing one of your HM&F stamps that features some type of a *fruit*. :)
Well, these adorable little critters love to eat. There are so many CUTE stamps to choose from. I chose this fun Apple Delight HM&F stamp for my "YOU ARE WHAT YOU EAT" card. I also went a little nuts with the curly ribbons! LOL!!
CARD RECIPE:
STAMPS: Stampabilities, House-Mouse Designs, called: "Apple Delight"; featuring Maxwell; from 2008. #HMUR1053. The sentiment also by Stampabilities, called "Fruits & Nuts" #DR1096.
Paper: White & RED Heavy CS
Ink: Memento Tuxedo Black, Copics, SU White Signo Gel Pen, Blue Pigment Dye Ink
Accessories: Marianne Design, #LR0112 Die, Spellbinders Circle & Lacey Dies, Word Window Punch, BasicGrey Rhinestones, Red Curled Ribbon, Fabric Red Flower
Have you noticed curly ribbons popping up everywhere lately? I have, and so I decided to try curling my own ribbons!!! These fun ribbons can be used in a great variety of ways like on gifts, for hairbows, for cheerleaders, home decor..... etc... but I wanted it on my card!!! LOL! Turned out funky, but also added a fun final touch! :)
If you are interested in knowing how-to, there are several ways to curl ribbon, but here are the top 3;
1. You can simply; tightly wrap-it-around a dowel, spray it with extra firm hold hairspray, use a hairdryer to dry it, then leave it place for a while to stiffen.
2. If you are in a hurry, spray ribbon with water to saturate, tightly wrap it around a curling iron and heat curl it until completely dry.
3. This is probably the best method--> in the Oven!! --> Tightly wrap-ribbon-around a dowel, spray it with water, pin ends with clothespins, place on cookie sheet lined with aluminum foil, put in oven and heat at 200 degrees for 10 minutes until dry. Let ribbon cool and remove from dowel to reveal beautiful curls! :)
For additional instructions, here are a couple LINKS to sites that show you just how easy it is to curl Fabric Ribbons in an OVEN; (Please pay close attention to the types of ribbons to use and make sure to watch the ribbon while it is drying in the oven to avoid burning it!).
